Town of Seymour Online Permitting
WE WILL CONTINUE TO ACCEPT WALK-IN PERMIT APPLICATIONS:
The intent of the Building Department is to enforce the CT State Building Code (CSBC) in order to establish the minimum requirements to safeguard the public’s health, safety, sanitation and general welfare requirements. The code also provides for adequate light, ventilation, energy conservation, and safety to life and property from fire and other hazards attributed to the constructed environment.
The Building Department receives and reviews construction plans and details for compliance with the CT State Building Code. Upon determination of compliance the building department issues the appropriate permits and certificate as it relates to the various nature of the building project. The inspection of all building projects related to the CT State Building Code is adhered to and followed as outlined in the Code. This inspection process conducted by the Building department’s Building Inspector and Building Officials is to ensure that products, and materials for construction and the workmanship and the installation of equipment is in compliance and documented for the purpose of the public’s welfare.
Our office assists in guiding the growth, preservation and development of the community. The office and its respective staff utilize such resources as the Zoning Regulations, Wetland Regulations, Building Code and Plan of Conservation and development to protect the health, safety, and welfare of the community.
