Parks Department

The Seymour Parks Department issues permits for park usage and ensures the parks are playable.

Baseball diamond, football field, basketball court, all-purpose play area, picnic area, scenic overlook with benches.  Band stand for concerts (seasonal), host of the annual Pumpkin Festival in September, Civil War and 4 War Veteran's Memorial. 

Gary Park/Castles in the Park
Davis Road
Home of the all volunteer built "Castles in the Park" play area.  Climbing, sliding, swinging, bouncing playscape with a castle look.
Also Baseball Diamond.

Legion Pool 
Chatfield Road
Park and fishing deck are handicapped accessible.  3.5 Acre wooded park, lighted with picnic tables, foot bridges.  Fishing, observation deck, gazebo, short hiking trails.   Limited parking.  Easy access to portable facilities in Chatfield Park.

Little-Laurel Lime Ridge
Tomlinson & Laurel Ridge Roads
209 Acres including wild woods with extensive but partially developed hiking trails.  Spectacular views of Housatonic River and Valley.  Noted for its limestone caves and get-away-from-it-all atmosphere

Katherine Matthies Field
Silvermine Road
Baseball field and playground.

Sochrin Park
Moss Avenue
Park and pond for fishing.  Soccer field, basketball court, and playground.

Family Swim Night

The Seymour Recreation Department will be conducting another Family Swim Night at the Seymour High School pool on Wednesday evenings beginning on January 16th to April 16th from 7:15 pm to 9:00 pm.

The cost for Seymour residents - Family: $32.00, Couple: $20.00, Singles: $15.00 and Seniors: no charge.  Non-residents may attend, but at a slightly higher fee.  This is an open swim night where residents can relax with their families, do laps if desired or just sit with their feet in the water.

Registration will begin on January 2nd by calling Jack Ahearn, Recreation Director at 888-0406 or by visiting the recreation office.

SEYMOUR RECREATION KARATE CLASSES

Classes are now being formed for Karate Classes to be held at the Seymour Community Center Twice weekly.

 

Ages 6-11- Beginners Class-Tuesdays & Thursdays

4:00 p.m.-4:45 p.m.

Ages 6-11-Intermediate/Advanced Class-Tuesdays & Thursdays

4:45 p.m.-5:45 p.m.

             Ages 11 & Up-Beginners Class-Tuesdays & Thursdays

6:00 p.m.-6:45p.m.

Ages 11 & Up-Intermediate/Advanced Tuesday & Thursdays

6:45p.m.-7:45 p.m.

   Classes will start in February. Registration will be held  on 2/12/08

and 2/21/08 in the Cougars Den from

6:30-8 p.m.

Tuition is $65.00 p/month.

       First 20 students to sign up receive a discounted rate of $60.00 p/month.
